About NWSS
Specialist Behaviour Support across Queensland
New World Support Services works with NDIS participants, families, providers and support teams to understand behaviour and develop practical Behaviour Support strategies for everyday settings.
Our approach
Behaviour does not occur in isolation
We look at the person, their environment, communication, relationships, routines, support needs and other factors that may be influencing behaviour.
Our approach is person-centred and practical. We aim to understand why behaviour is occurring and develop strategies that can be used consistently by the people supporting the participant.
Our Behaviour Support work includes
- Functional Behaviour Assessment
- Interim and comprehensive Behaviour Support Plans
- Restrictive practice assessment and planning where applicable
- Implementation support
- Training and capacity building
- Monitoring and review
Collaborative practice
Working with the people already around the participant
NWSS works alongside families, support workers, SIL providers, support coordinators, allied health professionals, schools and other people involved in the participant’s support.
Our role is focused on Specialist Behaviour Support and helping the existing team understand and implement practical strategies.

Statewide service
Supporting participants across Queensland
Service delivery may include face-to-face support, telehealth, consultation with support teams and a combination of these approaches depending on the participant’s location, needs and circumstances.
Everyday settings
Support that fits real environments
Behaviour Support needs to work in the environments where the participant lives, learns, works and spends time. Information from these settings can help us understand patterns and develop realistic strategies.
