High Needs Special Care

High Needs Special Care

Supporting Complex Needs with Compassion, Safety, and Expertise

At New World Support Services, we specialise in providing High Needs Special Care for NDIS participants with complex and high-intensity support requirements. These needs go beyond standard personal care — often involving enteral feeding, stoma management, and advanced support with mobility, communication, and behaviour.

Our trained disability support workers are equipped to deliver care with dignity, precision, and compassion, ensuring that participants live safely, comfortably, and with as much independence as possible — whether at home, in Supported Independent Living (SIL), or in shared accommodation.

Our High Needs Support Includes:

PEG Feeding

We support participants who require tube feeding through NG, jejunal, or duodenal feeding systems. Our staff are trained in:

  • Safe preparation and delivery of enteral nutrition

  • Tube site hygiene and safety

  • Monitoring for complications

  • Recognising signs of intolerance

  • Accurate logging and handover to health professionals

Training is delivered and overseen in line with NDIS High Intensity Support Skills Descriptors.

Severe Dysphagia Support

For participants with high-risk swallowing difficulties, we provide:

  • Mealtime supervision with prescribed textures and consistencies

  • Use of thickened fluids and swallowing aids

  • Positioning support before, during, and after meals

  • Assistance with PEG feeding if part of care plan

  • Close collaboration with speech pathologists and dietitians

Stoma Care

We support participants who require daily assistance with:

  • Colostomy or ileostomy bag changes

  • Cleaning and skin monitoring

  • Supportive hygiene and dignity practices

  • Observing changes and reporting abnormalities

  • Preventing infection through sterile techniques

Other Complex Supports We Provide:

  • Full assistance with all personal care, dressing, transfers, and hygiene

  • Two-person assisted manual handling

  • Assistance with continence aids and toileting programs

  • Behaviour support plan implementation (if required)

  • Overnight active support or monitoring

  • Medication assistance (under supervision policies)

  • Support in SIL, SDA, or private home settings
